Shindig

A large family gathering tonight will bring vegans and omnivores together. The two camps will be about evenly balanced, with the vegans comprising me, my wife Deborah, and her mom, brother, and sister-in-law. I am bringing a vegan white bean chili and two vegan desserts that I made this afternoon. The chili is phenomenally good. I don't know if the omnivores will try the chili, nor what they will think of it if they do. To me it tastes better than any meat based chili I ever ate. However, it's possible my tastes for various types of food has also changed since going vegan, coming up on two years in January.

Chilly

Like clockwork, the chilly weather has arrived just in time for the Midwest Horror Film Fest. I'll be road tripping up yon Oshkosh way tomorrow for a day of creepy, gory, scary films and shorts. In the evening, I'll meet up with friends for dinner before heading back home. I'm not staying for Day 2 of the fest, I don't think. It's kind of a tradition.

At the moment, I'm in the Rock Cave. Upstairs a loaf of whole wheat bread is materializing in the bread machine. I just finished a short weight training workout. Life is good.

Horror films don't scare me. Not too many things scare me anymore. The only thing that scares me is Tori Amos's "Little Earthquakes' album. I'm listening to it now and it's both mentally and spiritually destabilizing to my soul. I don't like it.
