To be clear, it was not THE Apocalypse. At least, I don't think so. I haven't experienced enough apocalypses to be certain. But it did not feel catastrophic enough to be "the big one," as they say.
Let's rewind the tape a little bit. Three days ago, I began a simple wellness challenge - to Forsake Humanity. I guess, in my mind, I interpreted forsaking to be something akin to "ignoring" or "forgetting about." I just wanted some respite from Humanity's exhausting and toxic grievance and vitriol. It turns out that forsaking is a much bigger deal. One could argue that forsakings have consequences!
On Day 1 (Monday), the Bubonic Plague rebounded when some idiot in Russia accidentally released some. It's unclear if the imbecile infected others or only themselves. On Day 2 (yesterday), the Internet went down (but only locally) and the power went out (but only intermittently), suggesting the apocalypse triggered by my wellness challenge was only a minor one.
I just woke up - alive, as I mentioned - so I don't yet know what Day 3 (today) of this apocalypse will comprise. I'm both anxious and excited to find out, and I will certainly keep you, Dear Readers, apprised.
Fin.
