The Big Day

By the time you read this, dear readers, the 28th Annual BIKE WITH JOE ride will be well underway...possibly even over.

I'm looking forward to it. The intention of this yearly event is to suck the life force out of the Diabolical Forces in the Universe (DFUs).

Let's hope it works!

Biking

Hi Dear Readers!

I hope this post finds you and brings you joy, insight, and/or actions steps for defeating the Diabolical Forces in the Universe (DFUs).

I am specifically contributing to the DFU demise through intentional action this weekend. This action is manifested through bike rides.

Of course, I continue to generally contribute to the DFU demise through intentional positive lifestyle choices: driving less; biking more; shopping local; boycotting shopping online; boycotting social and mainstream media (SMSM).

I know I harp on it a lot, but the last contribution - boycotting SMSM - is one of the most potent intentional actions you can do to deprive the DFUs of their existence. Because, as many of you may already know, their existence depends SOLELY on the Attention Economy. That economy needs to collapse, if humanity is to have any hope of surviving the AI revolution.

Well, I gotta go prep for an impending bike ride. Today, it's riding the Great Sauk Trail, with the Wisconsin Bike Group (WBG). Then, I'll be dropping a bike off at the bike shoppe to have a minor technical issue looked at, and hopefully resolved. I need to meal prep and make a massive salad this afternoon. There was talk of a family boating outing later in the day, but some technical difficulties and weather challenges may (and likely will) derail that. I hope I am proven wrong, though.

September 13 is the BIG DAY

Sometimes the infamous BIKE WITH JOE annual cycling event does not take place in northern Wisconsin over the Labor Day weekend. And this year is one of those years, because this year it is being held in Madison WI on the weekend AFTER Labor Day weekend. To be precise, it will occur on Sunday September 13, with rough distance of 40 miles and a tentative destination of Mt Horeb WI (from Madison WI).

Stay tuned!

Sunshine

Hi Dear Readers!

I hope this post finds you and brings you joy, insight, and/or actions steps for defeating the Diabolical Forces in the universe (DFUs).

I took the dogs out for a morning walk today and it was a crisp sunny and brisk early spring day. We had to push all the clocks forward an hour today, which wasn't all bad. The day will feel longer now, with it not getting dark until an hour later.

Temperatures are supposed to edge into the 60s Fahrenheit today, which bodes well for a possible mid-afternoon bike ride. I'm trying to decide what kind of a bike ride it will be, but I am leaning toward maybe trekking over to Brennan's grocery store to gather the fixings for one of my famous salads. Excited to get the bikes out and pump up the tires and generally assess their worthiness for the upcoming cycling season.

I'm doing RAGBRAI this year, because it's an even numbered year and those are the years when I tend to go. I'm once again joining the Powered by Plants vegan cycling team, who coordinate all the transportation, lodging, and meals (including bringing a vegan caterer along for breakfasts and dinners). That'll be fun. I still haven't motivated Deborah to give RAGBRAI a try. It's a bucket list challenge, but there are a lot of obstacles.

Anyway, go enjoy the day, because word on the streets is that the world may be consumed in a global thermonuclear war around the middle of next week.

Cheers!

Another Week of Disinfection

Hi Dear Readers!

I hope this blog post finds you and brings you joy, insight, and/or action steps for the demise of the Diabolical Forces in the Universe (DFUs).

It was a fun weekend, which invariably leads to the Monday Blues. Not because Mondays are especially bad or anything. In fact, today is going to be a quite spectacular Monday, as I'll explain in a minute. It has more to do with the relative awesomeness of the weekend compared to the week. For example, I got to spend a good part of the weekend with my awesome wife Deborah. She's at work today, so by definition, today won't be AS awesome as the weekend. But it still might be pretty awesome, if awesomeness is NOT like pregnancy (either true or false; nothing in between).

In any case, finding a considerable gap in my marriage and family therapy schedule today, I threw together an impromptu BIKE WITH JOE event, which will take up a good chunk of the afternoon, until I return home to see some psychotherapy clients in the evening.

Take care!

Sunday Funday

Hi Readers!

It's another Sunday. So, you know what that means...it's another FUN DAY!

By way of developing Scripture for the Church of Bike With Joe, I thought I'd outline some of the Blessings of the Church today. In a prior post, I described the three Tenets of the Church of Bike With Joe. It is by following said Tenets that the Blessings of the Church are bestowed, comprising:

1. Ideal Health. This is not the same as perfect health. That cannot be guaranteed. Following the Tenets of the Church bestows "best possible" health. That is what is meant by Ideal Health.
2. Ideal Happiness. Similar to the first Blessing, this is not the same as perfect happiness. It's "best possible" happiness. By following the Tenets, your mental health and mood will be as balanced as possible.
3. Clean Blows. These were alluded to in a prior post and you can learn more HERE.

There are other Blessings too. But these are the main ones.
